Gain a holistic understanding of the concepts and practice of strategic communication through conceptual learning, and hands-on applications including discussions, case studies, opportunities for interactions with practitioners, talks, and industry-sponsored student competitions.
Students pursuing the minor take six courses in the strategic communication track. Four courses are required. They include a foundational course and a capstone course. Students are also expected to complete two elective courses from the list of approved strategic communication electives.
Students must complete a capstone project during senior year. The capstone project is typically a comprehensive, integrated strategic communication campaign. In addition to a pitch presentation, students deliver a campaign project book that outlines the goals, research insights and analysis that led to the strategic, creative, interactive, and digital recommendations, media use, and other integrated communication activities.
