Shehram Mokhtar is an assistant professor in residence in the Communication Program at Northwestern University in Qatar. He received his PhD in media studies and MA in communication and society from the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. He also holds an MS in television from the College of Communication at Boston University.

Shehram’s scholarly interests lie in the areas of critical/cultural studies, visual culture, film studies, transnational media, and gender and sexuality studies. He has published refereed articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Feminist Media Studies, Sexualities, Visual Communication, and Ada: A Journal of Gender, New Media, and Technology.  

Shehram teaches courses in visual culture, critical/cultural theory, film and media studies, transnational media and communication, and gender studies.
