Seunga Venus Jin, professor in residence and associate dean for education at Northwestern Qatar, has been inducted as a 2024 fellow with the International Communication Association (ICA), the premier international association for scholars engaged in the study, teaching, and application of all aspects of communication.
Fellow status at ICA recognizes distinguished scholarly contributions to the field of communication. Scholars are selected annually based on nominations that highlight their documented records of scholarly achievements, and significant service to ICA and other social and professional communities, and they are inducted at its annual conference.
“Fellow status in the International Communication Association is one of the greatest honors and marks of distinction for academics in communication and adjacent fields. Venus is a scholar with a stellar academic, research, and publishing record. Northwestern University in Qatar is proud to have her as a faculty member and leader,” said Marwan Kraidy, Dean and CEO. “It was a true honor for me, as Chair of Fellows at ICA, to induct Venus into this distinguished group, and I look forward to welcoming more of our NU-Q faculty members.”
A social and data scientist, Jin is committed to interdisciplinary research on transformative artificial intelligence (AI), AI-empowered digital transformation, AI-driven digital marketing/branding, AI-VR convergence, emerging technologies, and consumer behavior. Her work has been published in a number of leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Communication, New Media & Society, Journal of Advertising, and the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, among others.
